IMPORTANT - Who's the DipStick?
Just thought I would relay a little problem that I caused myself, this may save several of you some time and money.
It is so basic and simple yet I almost had mt z towed and checked all because I didn't reinstall the oil dipstick properly after I checked the oil.
I noticed oil dripping from my engine cover under the car, at first I thought it was probably coming from around the filter or drain plug but when I looked under the hood I noticed oil on the drivers side of the engine and engine compartment. At this point I didn't put 2 and 2 together so I called the dealer and everything...when I told him I had changed my oil and filter at 2200 miles he said if it turned out to be a problem I caused none of the costs would be covered, which makes sense. So I decided I would check it more carefully before I called him back, as I looked under the hood again I realized I had not pushed the dipstick all the way back into place after I checked the oil a couple of days ago...that's where my "leak" was. There is a rubber plug type seal on the stick that needs to be seated properly.
So my advise is anytime you, or anyone checks your oil make sure the dipstick is all the way back in...
I feel rather stupid admitting this but if it saves anyone from similar embaressment it's worth it.
This dipstick learned his lesson. LOL.
