Default Did Michelin Pilot Sports cure your tire feathering???

I'm about to get my 3rd set of tires in 20K miles due to the feathering problem. The first set was replaced at 10K miles with the OEM tires; now I am requesting they try Pilot Sports in the hopes that they will wear better. Those who have switched to Pilot sports due to feathering - has it helped?

I will be switching to Pilot Sport All Seasons next week. Nissan is picking up the tab for the fronts. This is my first replacement due to feathering.

Hey danotto --
Just saw in your sig that you use a True Flow filter. How do you like it? Has it kept the dirt out of your intake tube? I've been rather concerned by some comments that the K&N type filters let a lot of dirt past them... not good. I am the type who gladly sacrifices some performance in exchange for longevity of my car, but I also belive that the OEM paper filter is far from ideal.
What has been your experience with the True Flow?

Mika,

why not try Bridgestone S03? I have no feathering so far, and it was swapped out around 12k, and I have 20k now...

Mwaller, the True Flow filter is the best filter I have ever used. It traps dirt better than anything out there (also used in motocross) and gives better performance than the K&N. Give it a try.

Good luck.

The first set was replaced by Performance Nissan in Duarte, CA. I can't say enough good things about the people there - they are all really nice and competent. Jeff, their parts manager, is a frequent poster on these forumns...

Apexi350z -- I've considered the S03's, but the previous Bridgestones have left such a sour taste in my mouth, so to speak, that I wish to avoid them in the future. I've had nothing but good luck with Michelins in the past, and I've heard nothing but praise for the Michelin Pilot Sports. I think they may wear a bit better, too. Good to hear that the tires helped you. This gives me confidence....

Danotto- thanks for the info. Aside from their marketing claims, do you have any experience or info that actually shows that they trap more dirt than most other filters? I'm always suspicious of what salesmen try to tell me...

Thanks!

I had the dealership request S03's when I brought it in the second time for feathering. The feathering problem took longer to reappear with the S03's, but it's back now. I don't think tire choice makes a difference in the feathering problem, unless you went to slicks I suppose.

Anyone tried invoking the lemon law after three times of letting the dealership try to fix the problem? That's the point I'm at now.

Did the dealer replace your rears too ? My rears are not feathered, but my fronts are being replaced for free. I want to make sure that my delaership is providing the same level of custoemr satisfaction to me that otehrs are getting--and my rears are worn out, and need to be repalced too. I hope you guys are getting all 4 ?

The first time my car was in for feathering of the fronts, the dealer replaced all 4 tires (I was only expecting 2...). Most recently, my NNA rep was unable to get approval for michelin pilot sports she promised to get for me. Instead, they just replaced the fronts with the stock tires, and scratched my rims in the process. I'm pretty steamed...
