Traded my $@#!% Z in tonight. Peace at last.
Pit Bull: This site has a listing of the TSBs with a summary of each. However, I know for a fact that it is not totally complete, because the window creeking fix is not in there as far as I can see( I just had work done for it). I'm not sure where to find the complete TSBs.

Ugh, my car is still in the shop, with a new set of front wheel bearings installed. No word on whether I'm getting new tires.

I did not know that all cars were manufactured at one plant in Japan. I was wondering the same thing about the shift or manfacturing run. It could be any number of reasons as to why some are experiencing problems and others are not.
These communities are wonderful. It is great to be able to talk to others who share a common interest such as the Z. However, there is a down side to all of this sharing of knowledge. While we all become more informed about potential problems with our cars, we all start to LOOK for these problems.
You hear a grind once and automatically think your transmission is going. You see that you are drifting to the right slightly and you start to think that the problems are beginning to show themselves (nevermind the fact that you may be on a cross grade and not know it). I got caught up in this myself.
I thought I was drifting to the right. I took my car in for another service and asked them to look at the car. They could not reproduce the problem. I got to talking to the service manager and we both agreed that these communities are great, but that they are also a breeding ground for the automobile hypochondriac.
I feel bad for everyone having problems and I am not belittling those that are truly having issues. I wonder, though, just how many are really serious.
Game on.

Additionally, insulting my intelligence doesn't help your cause.
What we should be taking is how to prevent the same situation that started this thread from happening again.
We're all the same team. Peace.

Sorry if you were insulted, it was not my intention. I have no cause here, also.
I agree.

I got so pissed off at my Z yesterday, that I took it in and traded it in tonight. I have put up with the tire wear, no answers from Nissan, noisy AC compressors, soft paint, clucky seat, nappy fabric, and greasy windows. This thing has literally spent 5 times as much time in the service department in the last year as my Ford F-150 with 150,000 miles has spent in it's entire life. The last straw was the synchro failing when I shifted into 5th gear. Enough is enough. $32,000 cars with this high of a cost of ownership, and with only 15,000 miles DON'T shred trannys. This is rediculous.
Good news is my dealer treated me really fairly. Trade-in value equal to what I owe, plus a good price on my new vehicle, a fully loaded X-Terra. I was really pleased with the result. I had a year of fun, and I loved my car, but enough of this stress. I was starting to feel like I couldn't drive the stupid thing for worrying about tearing it up.
If Nissan ever gets their act together on the Z, I may buy another one. For now, I have never been so glad to dump a car.

I've owned a Pathfinder and 2 280ZX's and 2 300ZX's and now a 350Z and they have all been very reliable and dependable. Don't believe what you read in the magazines. Nissan is highly rated by JD Power. I understand that JD Power was asked what car he would buy from a quality and reliablity standpoint and he stated that they were all now about the same, except for some of the Korean brands.

Nissan/Infiniti has some great products out there right now. They are a little lacking in the execution and support after sale IMHO. I'll just cast my vote with my wallet next time.
Dont believe JD power. He has motives to state that opinion. Its not a smart business move for him to say what he really thinks but I dont think he thinks that Fords and Hondas are made and last the same.
JD Power doesn't think Hondas and Fords are the same. I am quoting from memory but I believe Honda, Nissan and Toyota were all rated above average, while Ford was rated below average. The only American Car Manufacturer rated above average was GM.
As stated in a previous post the Korean cars were rated the worst by a long shot.

I think this is more related to the fact that the car is selling well without advertising. Generally, there is advertising on new models and more "mainstream" models that they want to get into the publics minds when thinking about a new car purchase.
If you go to most dealerships you should find that the Z's are few and far between and the deals are not that great on what they do have. Winter should help this in the East (since the car is not known for it's snow prowess), but otherwise, I think (with the exception of the problems some, including myself are having) that the car is selling at or beyond Nissans expectations.

I don't know...it just seems that the recent advertising campaign is mostly about the Nissan brand. It tries to convey attitude, quality, versatility...all the normal nonsense. It just seems strange to me that while they are showing virtually their complete line in many of the adds, even though they aren't emphasizing most of the vehicles, the Z seems to be absent. The XTerra is an "old" design that sells well, and it is featured somewhere in virtually every add. The Z was suposed to be the heart and soul of Nissan, but it isn't even shown in many of the TV adds. It doesn't really matter, but it seems weird to me.
