Car sat for 5 straight days now problems
Sup guys, i dislocated my elbow last week and couldnt drive stick so i left my car sitting in the driveway for 5 days without touching it. Well today i start her up and the exhaust started making these popping noises??? I drive off and each time im at the light my idle would go up and down (rough idle). THen my car would constantly backfire. Now my engine light came on and my car is SLUGGISH. I would step on it but it would take a while before the car reacts. And when it does its extremely slow. I took it to autozone and my codes have something to do with the o2 sensors? My question is, i had my longtube headers for 5months now with no problems then i leave my car for 5 days n now i get this??? Is that the reason? will this just go away? I forgot wat the codes were exactly but it was my o2 sensors. I tried to reset my ecu but that didnt help. Any advice?
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

sounds like your car might have reset itself - probably not though...
wipe the code and go driving you should be fine...unless one of your o2 sensors went then you might need to replace them.

Thats the thing, my o2 sensors were fine till i let my car sit a week. Ill try and wipe the codes and hope for the best. Im just curious wat caused this???
THing is all my o2 sensors showed up in the reader. Thats why im assuming its just something my car will fix itself,...or not lol. Anyone else have an idea?
If it helps my engine mods are, JWT popcharger, motordyne plenum spacer, longtube headers, bassani exhaust, underdrive crank pulley

Megan longtubes,
thanks mdaniel22. Ill try to reset them again, i reset it by disconnecting the batteries for 30min. Took out the engine light but car still bogs, then engine light came back on after couple miles

That's the thing. If there's a problem with your car, no matter how many times or different ways you reset your ecu the car will still run like crap. Just because you reset your ecu and the light turned off doesn't mean the problem is no longer there. As you stated, the light was off from the reset, but later turned on when the ecu saw that something wasn't right. Which code were you able to pull out? Also, where do you live?

i forgot wat the codes were, ill come back tomorow and write it down. All i know is it was the o2 sensors.
THe reason why i think/hope this will go away is cuz i had the start up then stall issue before and it just went away. Took couple weeks for it to go away.

Yea, if the CEL came back there is something going on. Is the gas cap screwed in all the way? Bad gas mixed in with the condensation from the humidity?
Be patient with the ecu reset it make take a few times before you get it right.

Try using some heet in the tank and see if that helps with the condensation. Also i've been using the Lucas gas treatment stuff. That actually seemed to clean out my system enough to give me a few more mpg so it might clean out your injectors and stuff if they are getting gummed up.
I would first try the heet and run that gas down as far as you can and try a new tank before dropping cash on new o2 sensors.

if it's hte same tank as before when it sat in the rain then there could be moisture in it. I think that's what the other guy pointed out and i think that is a good possibility. Heet is around a dollar for a bottle. Might as well try it at least.
