Happened tonight for the first time ever. started the car and it started fine but "nothing" CD player, cubby screen, all gauges everything off... when i push down the clutch a laud screetch comes from under the hood (same sound you would hear if you were to start the car when already started)

turned the car off and started it again and everything was normal again....

Im totally stumped on what would cause this to happen... any im put would be great. Thanks
