Default filled up with 87 Octane

I filled up with Chevron 87 Octane by mistake. Will it damage my engine or ECU? What do you think? Thanks for reply.

Don't floor it for sure. The car will adjust the timing, so yeah, it will run like ****. Don't add an octane boost, because that will just make you waste more money.

oh...and watch what you fill up with next time!! j/k

Thanks for busting my b#$s. Now I feel welcome. I plan to wait until it goes to half a tank and fill up with 91 octane and hopefully remember to fill up with the recommended "go Juice".

I honestly wouldn't wait half tank and fill up with 91.

I would just use it all up and fill up with 91 afterwards. But for your information, if this is just the first time it won't do any damages to your car. Most people argue that 87-91 is all the same stuff anyway. You'll feel slightly lost of power when your on 87 however, and I've tested it. But don't be paranoid, your car won't die lol

+1 , your fine , and unless your really in tune with your car , you won't notice a difference. If you search there are a few who run 87 every tank without problem.

Just run it to empty very slowly...then fill it up with 91 and then drive slowly for about 20-40 more miles or so to makes sure the 87 is all out.

I've done it by accident, guy at the pump filled up the tank with regular. I didn't notice anything, I just didn't floor it until I refilled.

***waits for the post from j.arnaldo stating he only uses 87 octane and his car runs perfect***

but back on topic: chalk it as lesson learned. one tank will not be bad.

I would just put in a fuel additive to help for this tank. I hear octane booster increases it by one or 2 points in a grade.

I'm not bored out of my mind. But what is this "most people argue that 87=91" argument you are referring to? Do manufacturers request premium fuel for the fun of it? It has nothing to do with a high CR engine?

Where in CA are you? If you get down to half a tank maybe hit up one of the Parsons stations that have 93+ octane. To me mixing is better than running a full tank to empty on 87.

Either way don't get on the car hard until the 87 is compeltey out of the system.
