Default VERY LOUD Whine when its cold

I have asked this question before, but never got a clear answer. This is the first winter/fall i have had my z, and this is new to me. Heres what happens...

I start it up, let it sit some, (btw the longer I wait for it to warm up the less it whines...) then when i start driving, through the gears it whines and when I really get on it, it whines even more. Is this something the z does when its warming up? It doesnt do it when in neutral btw.

Also, its a 2006 MT revup

Here is a hint: do not troubleshoot a car UNTIL it have reached operating temperature. Cars do strange things when they are cold.

You can try tightening the serpentine belt. The belt gets tighter as it heats up which is why I think the sound gets better after it reaches normal operating temp.

You may just need to just go ahead and replace it, if it's in bad shape.

It's normal. Don't replace anything. It's always a good idea to let a car warm up before you drive in very cold weather anyway.

I whine when it's cold too!

It doesn't whine while in neutral then it has to be the tranny. I had the same exact problem when it reached like 34 degrees in FL. I dont mean to scare you but that same week I heard the whine my tranny blew

Shifting into gears not a problem I assume?

If not then your good. Even with my new tranny I still hear a little whine. Just let it warm up

yea i mean its harder to downshift when its cold, but i assume that is normal. Its nothing i havent experienced with other cars, just a loud whine when its cold...i guess just letting it warm up is the fix.

Mine did that. It was because steering fluid was low. Have you checked?
