Question Strange Vibration Like / Humming Noise from the bottom of car???

Hello Everyone I just became a proud owner of an '03 Touring Edition with just 49k on the engine. Got her from a the dealers about a month ago and already I'm having an issue.

Well here it is:

I got my first oil change done 4 days ago (mobile 1 full synthetic 10W30), and I started noticing a strange sound from the Z after the oil change.

I'm not sure if it was there before the oil change but it came a lot more noticeable afterwords.

I sounds like a "HUMMING" or "WHINNING" sound from behind the passenger wheel well. Can be heard from the inside of the car, but not from the outside (in front of the engine) unless you put your head under the passenger side wheel well.

It's a continuous harmonic HUMMING sound. (Not a ticking noise or sound of metal one would hear if it was a engine knock, timing, or valve adjustment issue).

When I start her up in the morning, everything sounds fine. As the car warms up and the oil pressure drops to 30psi (during idle, which I head this is normal) I starting hearing the noise. It's not extremely loud, but it is noticeable, and it's a sound similar to vibration (ie like turbulence noise when inside an airplane).

I know recently in WA state where I live the weather has gone from lower 50's to the 20's suddenly, but I don't think that would cause this. Also prior to my oil change all service records show the Z was using Nissan Standard 10w30 oil every time and this is the first time it has changed to synthetic. Again i don't think this would have caused it either.

This is my first NISSAN (former Honda guy) and my first Z, so I'm a little worried. I'm also a college student on a budget so I'm trying to self-diagnose and try to resolve it myself if I can.

Any and all help would be much appreciated!!!

PS: my dealers warranty ran out cause I was told it good for 60 months or 60K miles, which ever comes first (I only have 49K, but the car is an '03 so it's past the 60 months stage)

imo, it's because of the cold weather. I would also guess what you're hearing is the tranny whining but can't say for sure based on what you described.

The Z is a very loud car when it comes to mechanical noise. I wouldn't get too concerned with this issue if I were you.

Be sure to watch your alignment on the front tires, though, as the toe setting from the factory can eat your tread away pretty quick with the '03s.
