Default Getting New Front Tires...ooowwww!

Dropped my car off at Nissan today....about 10:30 I get a call from the manager telling me that my tires are too chewed up and that an alignment will fix nothing (dur..thats what I told him from the beginning) So I ask him how I'm suppose to go about getting new tires for the car and he tries telling me that I need to go to Firestone...before he could say anymore I cut him off and told him that Nissan is putting tires on my car and NOT me. He then told me "well you have to call NNA to set up..." I cut him off again. "I have a case file open with Nissan already and my rep told me that YOU are suppose to call Nissan Warranty Dept and get new tires approved"...."well, ill have to look into that" I told him to do so and call me back later with any info.

Couple hours later he told me that they ordered new tires for me....same Bridgestone's that are stock on the car and that I have to come back in a week for mounting and alignment. I asked him if the fronts being chewed up affected my back tires and he said no.

So I'm getting 2 new tires out of it...YEAH!!!!! Thanks for all the help from fellow Z'ers here!

Good deal on the tires....

HEre is my update:

I spoke with Nissan about exceswsive rear tire wear, and they told me that it must be a tire manufacturer defect. So, I spent a couple hours writing to Bridgestone complaining about poor tire wear with my rear Potenzas. They contacted me back and told me to goto a Bridgestone/Firestone service center. The closest one was an NTB. I took the car in, and they told me that the tires were misbalanced (2-3 degrees out) from the factory, and that this misbalance could easily lead to exceessive tire wear, like only 8500 miles.

So, I contacted my rep again, and told her that I would be sending them paperwork from NTB that stated a factory misbalance problem, which is directly related to my excessive tire wear issue. She told me that if this was the case, that I would most likely be getting new rear tires too. We will see. I have to pick up the paperwork from NTB today, and I will call NNA tomorrowwith the good news...more to come.

Oh yeah, new tires on the front makes you realize what you felt like when you drove off the lot....no more freight train. Damn it is nice to hear the engine purring and the muffler rumbling again at lower speeds !

hhmm.....so the front being off could affect the back or are the backs off alignment too? I should look into that also.

My backs were out of alignment...be sure to get the before and after alignment sheets from your dealer for ammo !!! MY backs were out of balance, which is a sperate issue, but being out 2-3 degrees could wear the tires down 2x faster than normal. I will have all of my ammo as of this afternoon to submit to Nissan. I am hoping that getting the rears replaced will not be a major ordeal, like it was for the front.

How many mile did you have on the car when they replaced the front tires. I have 11957 this very moment, and I have a Thursday morning appt. at the dealer to have the alignment done. The interior sound from the tires is deafening! I hadn't driven the car in a week, as to not put any more miles on the car, and I took it out the other day. I swear it was louder than it ever had been. I'm sure it was because I hadn't driven it in a while. But still, it was so damn noticable. My buddy has an Enthusiast with 17's, and I much prefer riding in his car. Much smoother and quiter ride.

8000 miles when I reported the problem to Nissan, and about 8400 when the front tires were replaced. No more freight train-like sound from the car at lower speeds now. I have about 8700 miles on it now...

Vice, did you use Abeloff? I went there for an oil change last week and the service writer had no idea about feathering and road noise.

They'll take it in UNDER 12,000 miles...so you better save those miles or let them know you're close now so they don't give you crap if you roll into the Nissan dealership with 12,005 or something.

yep..good ol' well informed Abellof Nissan Noel. If your having problems, talk to JOEL MEDINA...he's the dude I've been working with. Everything I told him about, he had NO CLUE and had to "look into it"...just be persistent with him and let him know that he's working on a black Z right now. Don't let him tell you that YOU have to contact places...they have to do it.

WHen my car is getting the new tires put on, im telling Kost to check my back alignment to see if its off...if it is, im fighting for new back tires too.

I can't wait for the nice quiet ride!!!

When I told him about the Bose fix, once again he had no clue. I don't know if its their job or not to know about every service fix for every car but some clue would be nice...and not act like I'm making stuff up to try and get free fixes out of them.
