Oil filter wrenches?
Can anyone tell me what kind of oil filter wrench I should buy? I am about to change my oil myself for the first time.I want to make sure I have all the right tools to make the job as easy as possible. Thanks for the info
that would depend on what brand of filter you plan to buy. If you use a K&N, you can take it off with the socket fitting on the end.
Personally, I picked up my replacement filter and then fitted a cap style filter wrench (the kind used with a socket drive) to the end of the actual filter to be sure of an accurate fit.
You can also use the band type wrench, but make sure you get one with a swiveling handle.
take out the bolts holding the engine shield and swivel it out of the way- it will make life alot easier.
Also- the stock filter was installed by a cyborg- you will need alot of torque to remove it.
