Angry Where to find cheap plug wires?

Hey guys. Hope someone can help me out. I already searched the forums but couldn't find a clear solution (sorry, dont know a great deal about cars). Anyway, I own a 2005 350z with 73K. I just bought it and the check engine light came on. I dont know how to work on cars or know a mechanic so I took it to Auto Zone and they plugged their handheld computer into my car and there was a list of reasons it could possibly be. Number one being plug wires. They cost $101.00 a piece from AutoZone. I'm not about to drop $600.00 and not even be sure if that's the problem.

My question is should I just take it to some auto shop and have them check it out? I guess I'm just scared they'll say the same.

Anyone know the cheapest place to get what I need?

Thanks alot!

I think you need a second opinion, I dont think spark plug wires should need replacing that early.

If it helps, spark plugs are intervaled to be replaced at 100k miles, the spark plug wires are not even intervaled for replacement so they should be good for quite a whiles longer.

edit: although that doesn't mean I would ride the spark plugs to 100k miles. I would prolly change them around your mileage as I'm sure they're not functioning optimally if they're the originals with 75k miles on them.

Wait, the Z has spark plug wires? I thought we had a direct ignition with no conventional plug wires per se.

OP - never trust Autozone.........that is almost as bad as taking your car to Wal Mart.

lol. Yes, so I've been told about that place, as well as Advanced Auto Parts. Well, they said it was plug wires was the number one most probable cause for the check engine light. I 'googled' plug wires for nissan 350z and all that came up was ignition coils. Hmm... idk. That's why I came to this wonderful forum. I'm going to take it to this local mechanic shop this weekend. Thanks to all you guys for the help!

Sorry but I do not know where you can possibly install spark plug wires on a 350Z. Maybe someone can tell me.
