Default Battery disconnection question

I have an 05 AT and wonder if I can disconnect the battery while car is in Neutral. I am taking out my dash and would need room to work with. The "Park" position does not give me room to pull it further to get access to the Headunit harness. I need to disconnect the battery while working with the harness. Thanks for any input.

Pull up the parking brake and use tire chocks as additional precaution and you should be fine leaving it in neutral.

My son was telling me about him. Did not see him in action.
