My jack was working great! but now when it reaches almost top of its height when jacking up the car, it makes a BAD sound.

so i cant jack it up no more

which sucks cause not that much clearence underneath the car !

what could be wrong??

Usually when jacks reach their maximum top height it starts to creak. I have the same problem but yours doesn't sound too safe. Dont jack it up that high anymore

 

grease it?

i have a old school craftsman that my dad use to use on all of our cars. it has to be atleast 15 years old. time to time i hear that and just grease it and the sound goes away

 

Well I greased everything except the main hydraulic pump. Didn't know if it was safe or not??

 

jacks need to be serviced from time to time. my craftsmen actually has an oil reservoir. If I were you i'd contact the manufacture perhaps it should be inspected.
