Default Help with Starting Problem

I have a 2003 Z with auto trans. The car has about 85k and I've owned it since new. Great car, hardly ever any problems. However, it has recently developed an unusual problem. When the car is hot (i.e. it's been driven at least 10 miles or so), it will occasionally die when I try to restart it. It will fire and rev up to 2500 rpm or so, but immediately fall flat and die. When I hit the starter again, it fires up and runs fine. It never does this when cold, and only occasionally does it when hot (maybe 25% of the time). Any suggestions on what might be causing the problem. Thanks.

my mechanic said it was crank position sensor failure...our car has two...you know what that means...he had to get them from the dealer...he only charged me what the dealer charged him for them...i think it was like 60-80 bucks a pop...i forget, but my car started up fine after that, i don't doubt my boy

I had this problem about a month ago. Originally thought fuel pump, then a bike mechanic told me to try the crank position sensors. (after I purchased the $60 fuel pump- I still have in the box) Went up to O'Reilly's and bought both sensors for about $65 a piece, had my husband install took him about, hmmm, an hour -all the socializing and drinking. And she's cranked right up ever since then!

More than likely that is your problem. Good luck!!!
