Angry Scratched Rims >>> UPDATE <<<

I need some advice on this problem. My rims were scratched from a tire co. that the dealership sent me to. They basically switched the left to the right etc. This was in attempt to fix the drifting to the right problem. In the process of doing this, you guessed it, my rims were badly scratched. I brought this in to the store manager and of course he was denying that his tech did this. He argued that it could have happened anywehere etc, etc. I told him that I've only had my vehicle for three months. Every week in the last three months my vehicle was washed at least twice and I know every single scratch on the vehicle including the rims. And "NO" the scratches was not there prior to them working on it. So basically I need to talk to the Regional Manager in regards to this. What other options do I have should he deny my claim for new rims? Do I have a case to pursue this from a legal stand point? I found out from Nissan that these two rims are about $1,200 not including mounting and balance. I just hope that this guy will be reasonable.

I had a similiar problem where the actual Nissan Dealership scratched my rims. The service manager told me that they DO NOT guarantee that they will not scratch them and, in fact, he said that the rims on the Z (18") always get scratched when changing the tires. Needless to say I was pissed and I did fight and fight with no luck... Good luck to you!

Default i know the pain!

Are your wheels scratched on the edges or on the lug holes?? Mine were scratched in the lug holes (obviously the work of air rachet and carelessness). The work was outsourced by the dealership and the Service Manger at my dealership was the one that fought to get me a settlement. (they also tried to say they didn't do it) They ended up shipping my wheels out to be re-finished . I wanted new wheels but the manager informed me that was not really an option considering the price of the RAYS wheels on the track model I got the wheels back and they looked better but I could still tell. I was without my car for 28days during this process. i know that it is frustrating but stick to your guns otherwise they will roll right over you.

I talked to two of their Regional Managers today. Of course they were saying that there's no way that their machine could have done it, therefore they are not responsible. I told them that it wasn't there prior to them recieving my vehicle. I gave them another scenario to try to get my point accross.
Let's say I bring my car in for an oil change and a dent is placed on the door. As they are arguing now they would say the technician doesn't touch the door when he is changing the oil. Same principal, the damage is done while it was in their possesion reagrdless if their machine did it or not. At this point they told me that they would have to call me back with their response to my claim. I guess we will see what happens.

Its funny how the wheels can come from the factory with tires mounted and not 1 scratch, but these idiots can't figure out this rocket science.

Same thing happened here but the dealer repainted them for me, If they would have told me too bad I would have driven my Z right through their front window. LOL Try going back to the dealer and fighting with them. it was their problem with the Z that put you where you are now.

When I took my Performace Z (18" wheels) in for my new Warranty replacement tires, I SPECIFICALLY told them that I had heard a LOT of horror stories about getting RIMS scratched when changing tires. I asked if the work would be done in house or out sourced. I was told, "we have all the new equipment to do 18" rims and will do it in house..."

I get a call from the service manager hours later... "Mr. Christman, this is so and so, from so and so Nissan... You car is done, but I have bad news... We scratched your rims..."

I ALMOST went ballistic. I mentioned the conversation I had with the tech and the service manager told me, "well, we DO have the equipment, but never did 18" rims before, we were scared since we knew you were already concerned about your rims, so we out sourced them. By the way, you're new rims will be here within the next 10 days."

When I got my new rims put on, I asked again, how do I know you won't scratch these too. The answer to my surprise... "We're taking them to the BMW Dealership"

My new rims we're absolutely PERFECT. Thank you BMW... (And thank you for being an honest no hassle dealer.)

WOW! I wish I was that lucky. What type of damage did they do to your rims?

Honestly, it was only a few scratches. If I hadn't read on here aboout the problems people were having, I might have never noticed it. I picked the Z up at almost 9PM. I would have NEVER noticed the scratches in the rims until I had washed and waxed the Z again a few days later.

(I wonder what they did with the old Rims? Hmm might try to buy them back cheaper and throw some racing tires on them...) Too bad there are VERY FEW 18" racing options out there..

Did they scratch inside the lug nut holes at all? Also did you notice the inside of the rims if they scratched it? I'm still trying to get in touch with the Regional Managers that I met with couple of weeks ago in regards to this.

On the NEW set that I got as replacements, there are NO scratches. NOT in the lug nut holes, not on the lip, not anywhere.

The original set they scratched up, the scratches were all along the outside edge. It looked like they scratched them when either mounting or removing the tire from the wheel.
