Mine makes a similar noise, but only when it's cold out. It will do it for a couple minutes then I won't hear it again until the car has sat for a while.

I didn't mean to say I changed it, rather I had it changed. I took it to where I get my oil changed. They looked up my transmission fluid, told me they had it so I had it done. The charge was 50$ (someone told me its rather cheap?), so maybe it wasn't like a full flush? He told me that the transmission had some plug that they pull to drain it out and said it was relatively easy. Maybe they messed up? Because now that I think about it, I'm not sure this sound was as worse as it is now.

It's possible they could have not put enough fluid in the tranny and/or replaced the fluid with the wrong type.

50 bucks for both the fluid and labor does seem low, but it's not exactly hard to drain the manual tranny on this car. Filling it usually requires a little more effort, though.

I'd suggest having it looked over by a reputable shop.

Yeah I am getting LSD, 4.08 gears, and some test pipes installed next week so hopefully I can have the same shop check it out. I don't want to get everything installed and then have to deal with them taking it off to fix the problem. Also I do notice that the sound has to do with how hot/cold my engine is. The sound is more prominent when the engine is cold, the car hasn't been driven around all day. Even if I let it wam up then take it for a drive, you can hear a faint whine. But after a while, the sound is not there.
