Guys, please help me out.
Lately, when I insert the key into ignition and start up my 2008 Z, the engine lags a bit (0.25-0.5 seconds) before fully comes to alive.
The rev hand doesn't jump to 3000RPM like it used to, instead, it delays at 1500RPM a bit.
This is particularly true during cold starts (car's been off for hours), but doesn't happen if between quick ON / OFF. Meaning, if I start the car, run it for 3 min, turn it off, and when starting it again, it comes to alive immediately without delay.
I wonder if I have problem with my fuel pump? As I've been running the car with EMPTY FUEL light on a lot lately (I know, BAD).
Not sure if I've described the situation clearly, but can somebody please help out and tell me what might be going wrong here?

Have you unplugged your battery lately? Sometimes if you have mods and unplug the battery the computer resets and gets confused with your aftermarket mods. Or could be your battery is dying

I haven't modded the car in anyway.
But battery dying does sounds like the issue.
I wonder why, car isn't even 2 years old, I bought it in Oct 2008.
Do you think I should take it to a shop for inspection? But the issue only shows itself at a cold start, so when I take the car to a shop, they won't be able to immediately re-produce the problem.

What kind of battery do you have, maybe its a cheap one. Could also be your MAF sensor. Maybe take it to the dealer and see if they will check it for free or a local shop. What does your battery guage read in your car? should be 13.6 or so

So I just went and checked, battery is at where it's supposed to be:

Unfortunately I don't know enough about cars to tell what the problem could be.
Battery?
Fule pump?
Spark plug?

Idk to me it sounds like the battery or a MAF sensor. Fuel pump sounds weird cause its fine after a warm start up right? Cant be the spark plugs cause their good till just past 100k supposedly. Take it to a local shop and see what they say

Do you still have the original battery? Has it ever been serviced, as in adding distilled water? The Z has a battery that requires adding water periodically to keep it working properly. It won't have the required starting capacity if the water is low, but the voltage will probably show normal until a heavy load is applied.

Yeah I still have the original battery. The car is just over 24000KM (not miles), and I don't think the battery has been serviced just yet.
I will ask about this. Thanks man!

If I'm understanding you correctly there is nothing wrong with your car. You live in BC. During the cold season the water in your car is very cold at startup thus a very cold throttle body. The car is just warming up. Let it do it's thing.
It's warmer now, doesnt need to idle as high to raise temps.
Like you said when the car is warm it behaves in your opinion, normal right?
