Default My gears feel like SH*T!

First and second gear in my Z feel like crap! When i put the car into first, the stick is bumpy and grindy. Then i change into second and i have to push the stick down into second VERY hard or it wont go. I already took my car to the dealer and they told me it was fine. Its not fine!!!! Whats going on with my tranny??!

First of all engine oil has absolutly NOTHING to do with how your tranny shifts

replace the tranny fluid, maybe consider Redline or equivalent.

if you still have the same problem my uneducated guess is your synchros are toast. usually this seems to happen with 3rd gear before 1/2.

seen the last one happen firsthand to a friend's car - just stopped going into 3rd, after a period of rough shifting.

If the car wasn't under any warrantee, I certainly would change the transmission fluid to Redline. I changed mine to the MTL/M-90 combo which Redline recommends at 10K. I've never had any of the synchro or shifting problems.

Nissan recommends non-synthetic transmission fluid-- API GL4 viscosity SAE 75W 85. I wouldn't want to have to have to argue with the dealer that my transmission problems had no relationship to the fact that I didn't follow their specific recommendations.

I would keep complaining that the transmission clearly has problems. Might go to another dealer or call the Nissan rep. representative.

i went to 2 dealers with my tranny - found no problem , called NNA and told them there's a problem - their response was : if technician didnt find any problems with the transmission - there is no problem with it period... now im almost using 2 hands to shift into 2nd

Unhappy

When did you buy your Z. I am curious because others have mentioned transmission problems and mine is absolutely perfect; at least for now.
