Try play it again sports. Sports Authority did not have any in FL. They were 2$ each from Play it Again

Take it from someone who has spent years goaltending at a competitive level - they're quite durable and strong...

Some hard assed rubber my friend.

Bit of an old bump there, but... Yes they are certainly strong enough. I finally made one just this weekend but I was too lazy to find this thread so I didn't use a drill. I started a notch with a hack saw and then used what's probably called a tree limb saw (Google image it) to go the rest of the way. I'll try the drill on the next one.

Ended up buying some practice pucks and making the adapters with a Dremel freehand. It was kinda messy and annoying, but the results work.

OMG!!! I love the puck idea. I currently have been driving onto 2 10x2 boards just to get my low profile jack under the car. I'm going to do this over the weekend. As often as I need to get under neath the car, this is going to make jacking it up so much easier.

Great idea!!! Now where do i find a hockey puck in Sydney??? I heard that if you freeze rubber its easier to cut. That is , pardon my ignorance are pucks made of rubber ?
My first shot at this i used some 1 inch thick rubber to cut up. After a few lifts they were mangled.

The perks of being an engineer with a good welder are even greater :P.

I made some 3/16 plate steel cradles to sit atop the jack stands. I then grooved hockey pucks for the pinch weld and bolted them into the cradles. Works like a charm and cost me $6 in used 2nd handsporting goods hockey pucks.

Just adding on to this thread since I thought this was a good idea. I bought my pucks from "Play It Again Sports". They sell used equipment and had plenty of used pucks. I bought 2 black pucks but I noticed they had orange and blue, the difference seemed to be the weight of the puck. I beleive blue was the lighter of the 3 and was 4oz, I'd assume just stick with the black.

Since I dont have all the necessary tools I had to improvise. I drilled a hole down the center and then drilled smaller holes across the top. Came out ok.

I love this thread because it reminds me that Canadians can be ignorant, too. Here I am, laughing away that you poor guys can't find pucks or don't know that they're made of rubber or don't know what practice pucks are when really, how would you know!!? If you don't have a lot of people playing hockey around you since you could walk, you aren't going to know a lot about hockey so I should get off of my high horse!
If anyone cares, the blue pucks are super light and sometimes really little kids use them. The orange pucks are quite heavy and teach you how to take a pass because they force you to cushion the incoming puck. Both are mostly a gimmick and aren't widely used. I'd stick with black for the jack stands.
If that Aussie can't find any, let me know and I will mail you a couple for free if you pay the shipping!

^^ Haha

Anyways, I bought the black puck that most of you have in your pics, used it a handful of times to jack up the car and it split right in half. I did not saw through to make a slit; I just let it sit on top of the pinch welds of the car so it makes a natural slit.
