Default Oem Exhaust question

My Muffler needed to be replaced so I picked up a used muffler and mid pipe from someone. My question is now i'm going to bring these over to be installed by my mechanic, are there any gaskets or anything that go inbetween these pieces that I should order?

Assuming you have existing hardware for the replacement muffler, you can reuse your bolts and buy gaskets from Autozone, Advance, Pep Boys, etc.

BTW, replacing the muffler is something you can do in your driveway with hand tools and WD40 if you don't want to pay someone to do it.

Look at what you have. If you have a connector that looks like this you need a gasket.

Just did the same myself. There is a gasket between the Y and midpipe and then a round ring gasket/seal between the mid and muffler.

Where did you buy the gasket/seal?

Nissan has some pretty expensive gaskets. About $10 each. Check Goggle shopping for generic 2-bolt gaskets. About $3 each.

Local muffler shop provided one for my Nismo exhaust (muffler flange), gave it to me for free

Of course it is. If you don't achieve 100% molecular adhesion between your exhaust flanges a leak will occur, therby causing a low pressure zone within the exhaust, lowering back pressure and in turn causing the o2 sensors to compensate and run rich. This rich condition will cause an extra production of Co2 and will hasten the degradation of the ozone layer.

Lack of ozone will allow more harmfull solar radiation to enter our atmosphere, frogs that are super sensitive to solar rays will die, mosquitos will flourish and non of us will be able to bang on the beach anymore, which will cause a decrease in human reproduction and an ultimately the extinction of mankind.

Sure but besides that I think $3 gaskets will be OK.
