Default Vibration in Gas Pedal at exactly 9 mph

My '03 Touring Z has a moderate gas pedal vibration and "shim" sound at exactly 9 mph, upon the first time of reaching that speed after starting it. It almost sounds like some vents are opening. Anybody else have this situation?

I have an european '06 Z, and I have the same vibration and metallic sound when I pass from 14 to 15 km/h (just 9 mph). I have only noticed it the first time I reach this speed after starting the engine, just like BillsZ.

It can be noticed more clearly if you leave the car move with precious little gas, but with your foot slightly leaned above the gas pedal.

Anybody can help us with this issue? Should we be troubled about it?

Best regards!

It's normal, I think it is something to do with either the antilock brake system check, or the fuel pumps, not totally sure but I know it's normal.

Yeap, it's normal. It's the self test feature of the ABS system.

From the Owners manual....

Self-test feature
The anti-lock brake system consists of electronic
sensors, electric pumps, and hydraulic solenoids
controlled by a computer. The computer has a
built-in diagnostic feature that tests the system
each time you start the engine and move the
vehicle at a low speed in forward or reverse.
When the self-test occurs, you may hear a clunk
noise and/or feel a pulsation in the brake pedal.

This is normal and is not an indication of any
malfunction. If the computer senses any malfunction,
it switches the anti-lock brake system
OFF and turns on the ABS warning light in the
dashboard. The brake system will then behave
normally, but without anti-lock assistance.

Thanks DavesZ#3!

Only just one thing: I feel the pulsation not in the break pedal, but in the gas one. Maybe it occurs in the break pedal, but somehow it is propagated to the gas pedal...

I feel it in both. It just depends on if my foot is on the gas or the brake when it happens. Since both pedals are hung together under the dash the vibration propagates throughout.
