Default Dumb question, but...

Facing the front of the car ('08Z) there is a large nut on the right side of the front strut tower brace, which I assume is used to adjust tension. If so what way do I turn it to release tension before removing the bolts on eash side of the tower brace? Or is there no need to mess with it?

Or, what's the correct way to remove the front strut tower brace?

thx

I just unscrewed mine from the tower when I changed it via the four bolts on each side. I never messed with the actual tension on the bar.

There's a procedure in the service manual for removing and reinstalling the tower bar. It involves loosening the nuts and relieving the compression before removing the nuts holding it to the towers, and then putting the compression back in after reinstalling the bar.

It can't hurt to do it by the book.

Take a look at the threads, and you should be able to figure it out. The double ended bolt (for lack of a better term) needs to screw into both the bar and the base plate to release the tension on the assembly. Count the number of turns as you're loosening it (mark one of the flats) so you can properly re-tension it later.
