Alright guys, I have a 2003 Nissan 350z Performance Model and I've run into a bit of a problem. I was driving today, and when I shifted I felt water drip onto my right leg. Something from underneath the driver's side of the dash is dripping little drops of water every now and then. Also, my A/C blows hot air only. There's no cold air coming out even if I set it to 60 with the A/C button on. I looked under the steering column and saw there was a tube unhooked, that was running into a white colored piece that looked like a tube was missing from the top of it. Does anyone know what this might be, or where the water leak is coming from? I'm planning on taking it to Nissan soon to have it checked out. I just want to know if it's serious or not and if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks

i havent really looked at the Z a/c system, but it sounds like a drain tube of some sort came off. try and find where that tube goes and put it back on. and no cold air? compressor might not be engaging? sit in your car while its idling and put the windows down and open the hood, turn the a/c on. you should hear an audible "click". thats the compressor engaging. if its engaging and still no cold air you might be low on refrigerant.

 

I've started the car with the A/C turned off and then I've turned it on. The RPM's rise a little when I turn it on, and I can hear the compressor turn on. I don't think it's a compressor problem, I'm going to take it to Nissan and have the entire system checked out just to be safe. I'm not very good at diagnosing A/C problems.

^Water dripping onto any part of the interior is not normal and if the rpms change when the a/c is turned on that means it has refrigerant

OP best bet is to either get a FSM and troubleshoot yourself or bring it to a shop qualified to do a/c work. Doesn't sound like it will be too difficult to solve

 

LOL, holy crap, I had just finished reading a GRE studying guide and was practicing speed reading, I missed the "interior" part, that wont be good for the test, long day

 

Well, it turns out my A/C Compressor plate was sitting in the bottom of the pan under my car. It's all rusted too so it looks like it's been there for awhile. Seeing as I can't buy just the compressor plate, I'm going to have to buy an entire A/C compressor assembly and possibly a new compressor clutch. FML lol

For the ten thousandth time, I DID NOT put the chrome wheels on my old Celica. lol They were on the car when I bought it and I didn't buy new wheels for it. I hated those wheels.
