Couple questions on the S-Tune suspension:

1) Does it seem to cure the feathering problem? Are you using stock tires?
2) Will it work on my 350Z Track w/VDC? Do I have to disable VDC?
3) How much did the dealer charge you to install the suspension?

Just a note to all who are thinking of going to the dealer concerning the tires, You must have it noted in your file before 12000 miles otherwise they can reject your claim. I first complained at 4500, they did the TSB at about 10500 and replaced the tires around 14000. I also had called NNA when they did the TSB. So to protect yourself get it in your file before 12000.

1) The S-Tune does not cure the feathering problem, in my case. An alignment to specs, most likely will. I am using stock tires.

2) It will work on a VDC car. I have the Track Model with the S-Tune. No problem thus far. You do not have to disable the VDC.

3) I had an outside shop install them for me. Total for the S-Tune suspension + Sways was ~$244.

Thumbs down Just got back from Nissan Dealer Service

Below is a copy of my Post #1 at the other thread;

Well, I just got back from the Nissan Service Center at Westbury (Long Island) NY. I told them about the tire cupping problem and they switch those front tires left and right (dismount, remount, and balance). All these cost me $65.20 because they said my Z is over the adjustment warranty period (12 month/12,000 miles) so Nissan will NOT cover the tire switching cost. The car was registered on 10-2002 so it's past the 12 month period even though it ONLY has 9,400 miles. I didn't know when was my Z originally registered because I bought this Z USED this past summer, otherwise I would have gone to Nissan before the adjustment warranty expires.

And switching those 2 front tires is ALL that they do! They said my wheel alignment is good so no need to realign them! Did they perform all that they are suppose to do from that TSB issued by Nissan?

I don't feel right that Nissan charges me $65 for their bad engineering!!! Well, right now the noise is reduced by about....60%. But I'm sure they'll be back to 100% in no time!!! I think I will call up NNA and file the complaint regarding their tire issue (as many of you already did).

And guess what, I told them to check my clutch because I get a clicking noise from it and what they found out was that a bearing went bad in the transmission!!! So They've ordered me a new transmission and will replace it in a week or 2. But the service guy tell me this transmission issue is cover by warranty so I'm NOT worry.

Hummm.........what can I do now folks??? Drive the car like this for the rest of its life time? I think I'll get new tires this coming spring if I decided to keep the car and I'll install a new coilover suspension at the same time, HOPE this new suspension will correct the Nissan's BAD ENGINEERING problem!!! (I'm an engineer myself and I don't know what those Nissan engineers are smoking)

Copy of Post#2;
Anyone who read my post reagrding my experience today with Nissan please don't get me wrong about this particular dealership's (Westbury Nissan) service center! They treated me very nicely and the service write-up guy even try to change the Nissan's service computer system to see if he can get me NOT to pay the $65.20 fee. However, he cann't because Nissan already has a record of when the car is first purchased, which is over 12 month now (Oct-02). Oh well, at least he tried

Thanks Perry and Danny , I'll see you guys again when my NEW tranny arrive next week!

PS. They have a very nice, clean, and big facility.

I have just over 6000 miles on my Track (built May of 03) no signs of feathering.

I had read about alignment issues prior to taking delivery and had the dealership do an alignment as part of my purchase agreement. All 4 wheels were out of spec from the factory. They put everything in spec and so far no issues.

Hope it stays that way, I'm keeping a close eye on it.

Just got my car back from the dealer after the tire TSB. They damaged both front TRACK rims. After complaining they agreed to have them repaired. The repair was acceptable, but I should not have had to have the rims fixed if they knew how to use their tire machines.
They said the alignment was out, but the car still pulls to the right, very slightly. I'm afraid to bring it back for fear of further damage.
Still a low roar at speed under 30mph. but not as bad as before.
Not sure what to do at this point.
