Default Fuel sensors and sending units

Anyone ever have problems with their fuel sensors ie sending units? I had them looked over and replaced twice. Today my car stalls out on the fwy. Won't crank over at all. We think it's either electrical or fuel. Tow truck comes by and inhave him give me a gallon of gas just to see. Then it turns over with no problem. Long story short it turns out that I ran out of gas despite the analog gauge saying I still had 1/3 tank and 133 miles to empty. Going back to the stealership tomorrow to let have them have a piece of my mind. You can count on Nissan corporate hearing about this since it had been looked at for the same problem multiple times.

Has anyone else had problems with fuel on their Z?

I had a problem where the fuel level would stay near the full level. Sometimes I would be stopped in traffic and I would notice the fuel needle literally dance. It would go from full to about 3/4 then up & down, etc...

I was paranoid about running out of fuel, so I monitored my mileage and fill-ups to confirm the problem for about 6 weeks. I took it to Nissan, and of course the tech did not believe me 100%. But they agreed to look at the problem and ended up replacing something (level/float ???) in the fuel tank. Problem fixed.

They're working it right now. Nissan Corporate called me back concerning my previous visits and informed them of the problem escalating to the point where the car ran out of gas. Corporate is now following up on it and it sounds like they are getting involved with my local dealership. I'm definitely not going back to them for any service work from this point on.
