Hey guys, what should I do? I took my 07 350z to auto zone because my service engine light came on here are the codes that they gave me P2A03 and P0420. Are the codes bad and what does it mean? Thanks

 

Why did'nt you ask them what the codes meant when they pulled them ?

That's odd because usually Autozone gives you a slip of paper with the codes and explanations on it.

Both are related to emissions...

P2A03 A/F Sensor 1 Bank 2 Circuit Range/Performance
P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

It's odd that they are on different sides of the car (bank 1 vs 2).

 

Sorry, P0420 can be
- Large vacuum leak
-Fuel system fault
-Ignition system fault
-Failed bank 1 catalytic converter

P2A03 can be
-Intake air leak
-High fuel pressure or leaking injector
- Af ratio sensor heater circuit fault
-failer af sensor

I'm new at it, so I don't know if its bad or not. I have no mods the only thing is a kenwood head unit.

No, I haven't done any. I am not the first owner either.

 

Is that true that Nissan would replace your cats converter if your car has under 80,000 miles by federal law? Mine is at 49K. Thanks

If there are no warning signs other than the codes I would suggest that you visit a local mechanic to properly diagnose your issue.

Yes, I just had one of mine replaced at 57K miles on a 7½ year old car.

 

I took my car to the dealership, and it was the catalyst. Thanks guys for all your help!
