Default P1078 cel

I have searched, called Nissan and called a local shop and have not yet learned which part needs replacing. The Code is Exhaust Variable Timing Control Position Sensor Bank 1. On person at the dealership told me that it is the front housing on the cam... a housing throwing an engine code didn't seem right so the parts guy went to go talk to a service tech. After their conversation and a little bit of looking at a diagram he said it MIGHT be a valve assy-solenoid. I am waiting on a call back from the local mechanic with hopes he will have an answer.

I added oil and reset the computer, it still came back.

Anyone have a P1078 code before? What did you need to replace?

TIA.

I was truly pissed when my CEL came on. Anyways I manually pulled the code and it came up as p1078. If you search online, it'll come back as "Exhaust Valve Timing Control Position Sensor (Bank 1)."

Here's a good description about what the sensors do: https://my350z.com/forum/7496652-post17.html

I searched this board and many people said it happened to them when they were low on oil. Anyways I cleared the CEL, changed my oil, and drove around town. Within 2 miles, the CEL came back. WTF you bastard car!

That didn't help so I gave in and went to the Nissan Dealership since they have the OEM Nissan diagnostic tool (Consult III) which costs $110 bucks to do. After 2 hours of troubleshooting, they come back and tell me it's a bad "camshaft sensor." They replaced both sensors on the right hand side Bank 1 and Bank 2. I drove around for about 20 miles and no more CEL. However, I will report back.

Hope this helps. Seems like most people's p1084 or p1078 would just go away on this Z board. Mine didn't.

Here's the part number and cost for the sensor: 23731-AL61A $97.68

HAHA. I stopped checking this thread because I wasn't getting a reply. I took the sensor out (an hour ago), went to Nissan and had them find the right sensor. I just wanted to come back and post the part number in case anyone else had the same code and so that they don't go through the same thing as me. I also saw the low oil thread and did the same. I added oil, reset the ecu and hours later I got the code again....and I too was pissed. So yes the part number is 23731-AL61A. Thanks for posting!

Default HELP

i have a problem. I have a 2006 350z and its been acting up so ran the codes and it popped up P1078 & P0181.

Ive read alot about replacing the EVT for code p1078 to fix the problems described but im not sure if i need both parts and if so does anyone know the parts numbers? has anyone replaced these or know the cost? any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
problems: car takes for ever to start. its not a starter its one of those sensors. itll try cranking but takes awhile to turn over.
2. while driving its ransomly dying on me. probably same problem but yeah.
3. cutting in and out while accelerating. the car is 6 speed (M) and if i get anywhere around 3000 rpm it jumps (kinding like its cutting out or something). feels absolutely terrible and i know its not good.
again any help would be appreciated greatly. i know this is an old thread but i need help and yall seem like yall know yalls **** so help me please

P0181 is the fuel temp sensor AND it's in the tank / fuel pump assy...

P1078 is the exhaust valve timing sensor bank 1 is the passenger side.

In my GF's G35 ( NON REVUP ) we had the exhaust fail & replaced the sender.... 15K later still AOK...

Ok thanks. Do you know the part numbers I need and maybe the pricing as well? Also are these parts that I can change myself at home?

Hey all, I got the same thing on my 06 rev up, but on Bank 2 - the error code is P1084 the exhaust valve timing sensor bank 2.

Anyone could post find the part number. I found the part number of bank 1 sensor in a previous post but had no luck finding the part number of Bank 2 sensor.

Appreciate any help

Cheers
