my fan ticking
there is a fan thats ticking and it gets faster the more gas i give it any one know what it would cost to fix it or just replace it message me back on hear or email me Jpawloski5@yahoo.com
If it gets faster when you rev the engine, then it's probably not a fan. The cooling fans behind the radiator are electric. If the ticking sound is coming from under the hood, it could be any number of things driven by the belts...
A/C compressor and/or clutch
idler pulley
Power steering pump
alternator
or a other internal engine noises like
water pump
timing chain
cam/tappet
piston slap
connecting rods
You're going to have to get your head under the hood and try to narrow it down a bit more. Try it with A/C on or off. Steering wheel straight ahead vs turned one side or another. Front of engine or back? Driver side or passenger? Worse when hot or cold?
How old is the car? Mileage? Any maintenance done recently? Any parts replaced already?

Hi all did OP ever figure out what was causing the issue? I am having a similar symptom. I believe it happens only when under load. Car actually driving as opposed to just revving while stationary in neutral. Ticking noise appears to change with gas pedal.
I am not sure if it only happens with AC on. It may happen with either on or off. But, sometimes goes away when turning off AC. Yeah I know kinda vague but looking for any and all suggestions. Car is 2004, 59k miles so not looking to pay an arm and a leg at a Nissan stealership. I was going to start with changing the belts since they are old.
