Default Inside door handle not working help!!

So, my drivers side handle isn't opening the door! I took out the door panel and seems like the white plastic clip holding the inner door handle cable broke.

My question is WHERE THE HELL DO I GET IT, I've been looking almost everywhere! THanks i Posted a pic too!

Seems like a dealer part...would probably have to be ordered unless you are near a large Nissan dealership.Possibly that part is interchangeable with other Nissan model door
mechanisms??At any rate,I'd go to a dealer(I'm sure you can find a schematic of the door parts online)and have the parts guy look up the door diagram on his system.Take the part with you.Usually takes a few days if they have to order.

yea I went to one of the dealerships close to my house and they were talking about ordering a whole new handle! I was like F that, if I can't get the part I might just order the handle on ebay or something for cheap!

He didn't even know how to look at the part correctly too, should have tried someone else! meh i'll just go to a diff or bigger nissan dealrship

I've experienced the same thing at different Nissan dealerships. Most parts guys don't know s--t.Usually the manager can find what you need. You may want to go online to COURTESY(TX).They usually know their stuff. On the downside its possible you may have to buy the whole assembly...

I can't actually tell if all the pieces are there or not, but if they are have you considered epoxy?

You can fix this by using a zip tie. Make a loop around your door handle. Make a tight loop while inserting a zip tie at the neck of the ball on tha cable. Use the zip tie fastened to the cable now to tie into the loop you made on your door handle.

PS stop opening your door with retard strength

strong like baby monkey. ^^ ha

Dude, courtesyparts.com

since that guy at the dealership is apparently an idiot, youll certainly do better at looking for the part in the nissan diagrams than he did.. right?

Well ther ya go.

Wait , theres more.... if they charge too much at courtesy ( shipping sucks btw), now youl have the actual Nissan name for the part... and you can search google and ebay.

I mean, thats what I would do.. but Im no longer a mere man... Im now something more... my brain has evolved into something totaly new since i orderd that badger milk of the TV. .

haha.

If MUZZY's trick doesn't make sense to you here is the door diagram from Courtesy Parts:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/350z-pa...5_846_856.html

I'm not sure what your part is from so you might be able to better identify it OP

Talking easier faster way to get that part

other are right, most dealers will order the whole assembly. I am really surprised that no one has suggested junk/savage yards. I've had great success getting parts like this verse whole assemblies.

Anyone else have this issue? Just happened to me... Girlfriends bro moved my car.... I went to get gas and was locked in. Just opened up the door today and this plastic piece was broken like the OPs.

New door handle costs $75 bucks but money is tight and I'm annoyed that it costs 75 to fix something stupid like this. The way it's built you basically NEED a new assembly. I tried super glue but after about 20 times opening and closing it snapped off again. Couldn't get the zip tie thing to work-- cable is too loose.

Next is a trip to the store for some epoxy to see if that's strong enough.

I anyone has any experience feel free to add it. This is the only thing I could find online about this.

Most body shops have vendors for getting these types of clips for handles, molding, etc.

ryohazuki222 what did you end up doing?

Mine just broke today..Took the door apart, and it's the same little plastic thing.

Going to try zip ties, and avoid the ~$70

Zip ties worked perfectly, actually feels better than OEM imo.

Loop around the end of the cord, and then one around the door handle

Just need to slowly tighten the ziptie and try the door handle to see how tight it is. Tighten a little, try...rise and repeat.

Maybe I'm just dumb.... Could NOT get the zip ties to work for me. Couldn't tighten it enough. And even so, didn't like the fix because it would have left me needing to redo it every time I took the door panel off.

I ended up using epoxy. Still working amazingly well.

Default Zip Ties Do it

In case anyone's still lookingk the zip tie fix is very easy. Three zip ties, one around the ball, one around the actuator, and one to connect them. Tighten the connnector slowly until it just opens the latch. I did one too tight at first and the door would not latch shut.

I suspect thin wire would also be a good solution here and easier to undo.

I hate zip tie solutions (but have been known, kiddingly, as the "Mic, as in Mickey Mouse, King of the Zip Ties"). But this may be the only solution nowadays since Nissan discontinued the OE part.

When I replaced mine, I got a USED one off EBay and have been fine since, taking care on how I trip the door. At the time, there were bunches of them available for around $15 a pop and didn't give them a second thought.

Now? Ehhhh, you'll be lucky to even find one. That's cuz I'm hording them. Laff. But seriously, I bought an additional one for when (not if) the one I have breaks. Actually going to take it out and reinforce it with some JB Weld/epoxy or something. Gotta love those 5whp mods!

----- Broken plastic part
----- Wire twister
----- drill location
----- twist stainless steel wire

This fixed it. Works great. I have a video, but couldn't upload it. sorry

This is my first post on here. I've had my 2006 Z since new.
This thread helped me with my solution. Thanks!
I own a CNC machine shop in SoCal, I'm very used to fixing things.
Hope my post helps someone on here,
Randog
