I mean... its not like the obvious thing to do would be to remove the panel and see what broke....

The door latch is operated by a small metallic ball on the end of the cable that operates the latch. Either the door handle hook or the cable itself has likely broken. You'll need to pull the door panel itself (SEARCH for the DIY on this) to open it up and find out yourself, or take it to a Nissan dealer and let them work on it if you not a DIYer.

I'd suggest a faith healer, or perhaps acupuncture.

As dkmura said, it's either going to be the ball at the end of the cable OR..... MORE THAN LIKELY (ask me how I know), the latch that said ball connects to broke off. It's a cheap piece of nylon that, over the years, gets brittle. Only way I know of to repair is to replace the door handle - of which the nylon latch is integral.

Repair isn't that difficult. You have to remove the panel and disconnect the window switches and that's far less difficult than it sounds....

The handle itself is held on with a couple of screws. Screw new one after connecting the ball connector and done.

Or take it to Nissan.

Honestly the only way to fix this yourself is to remove the door panel as suggested above. In the process you learn more about the car. Nothing hard. Dealership will charge too much for something that simple. Good luck.
