seat belt dilemma any help would be great full!!
So my air bag deployed the other day, and my driver side seat belt would not wind back anymore, so I thought it broke on me or something, so in the mean time while I try to find a new seat belt, I decided to move the seat belt from my passenger side to my driver side, i just took of my driver side seat belt, and now it has locked on me as well, and won't retract, or release. Is there a safety feature on the seat belts that won't make it retract after a deployed air bag? I know for a fact that the passenger side was still working before I took it out, any help would be great full.
Thanks, Angelo
Thanks, Angelo
The seat belts have a pre-tension feature that takes up the slack in a crash before you hit the belt with your full body weight. That goes off at the same time as the air bag.
I'd suspect it's a one-shot thing that pretty much ruins the belt take-up mechanism, since the belts are supposed to be replaced whenever they're subjected to crash loads.

+1 and what were the circumstances that made your airbag deploy? If it was a collision severe enough to trigger the air bag, I would expect the car to be totalled and for the seat belt mechanism to be the least of your concerns.
