I had all the trim out of my car to put some soundproofing in the hatch area. The only things I can think of which could be got wrong which would lead to external wind noise from this area are:

1. I believe like most cars there is a vent to the outside (which is hidden behing the bumper from the outside. I guess they might have damaged the little covers on that, but this seems very unlikely and even if they did, I don't think it would lead to wind noise.

2. Possibly the main seal around the hatch area could not be seated properly. I would imagine the hatch wouldn't close properly if this was the case though and if it is dislodged it should be very easy to see and fix.

Forgive me for asking dumb question again...are you sure its not road noise? Does the noise increase when you get on say a concrete surfaced road compared to blacktop or in the rain?

Sorry not to be more help. Bit of a stumper this one.

Oh well any ideas are appreciated but the first one about the space from the inside out Im not sure about. The second one about the trim by the hatch, it all looks normal so I dont think that could be it.

I dont think it could be road noise because it would stand that it would come from both sides. It really does sound like a window behind the passenger side window is open. Any other ideas people?

For rear/trunk related wind noises, adjust the trunk latch down so that the trunk seals tighter. I don't own a 350Z but have experience this problem on other cars. The hatch latch can be adjust about 1/4 inch up/down so if it's at it's upmost position it will but pull down enough on the trunk lid. If it's all the way down then you won't be able to close the trunk/etc.
