Convertible Storage Lid
Hopefully, a simple question. Like many and perhaps all, I am having convertible top problems. I think I have narrowed mine down to the 5th bow half latch switch under the lid. My question is how do I get to it? It is inside the plastic cover under the lid. Do I need to take the lid completely off? It seems like the plastic may also be glued in place. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I fixed a Fifth Bow motor a while a go, which was the issue on my '04 350Z (link below), maybe the photos will help you. I would suggest downloading the tech manual if you are sure it's the storage lid latch switch as this will show you where it's located. The plastic cover inside the vehicle houses the fifth bow motor and that's all. To get at that just pop in up from the front. Do NOT try and completely remove it as it IS glued/fastened at the back somehow.

Hope this helps
BTW What are your symptoms that lead you to believe that it's a latch switch?

Thanks for the reply BlueBadge. I have rebuilt the fifth bow motor per your post (thanks, it was a great post), and know it works fine. I tested the contacts for the half switch with the fifth bow unlocked and there was no continuity. The manual does not even show the half latch switch, but I assume it must be next to the latch. The latch is inside that plastic cover under the lid. It looks like you have to take the lid off to get inside the plastic cover to motor and other parts in there. However, it also looks like there is some kind of sealant around the outside of the plastic. Before I make a mess of things, I was hoping someone had done something similar and could provide some assistance.
Thanks again for your help. Hope you have a happy new year.
