Default Grease like fluid seeping from rack

I searched and found very little.

Motor is going in and I was looking under the car and saw seeping from the rack.

It's coming from the large "nut" on the left.

Nothing on the floor and steering works fine.

Anyone seen this before?

No not coolant. I pressure washed the area and it is not seeping yet. I'll keep an eye on it.

FWIW Rack Drs has an odd year break down (03-05/07-whatever) I asked them via their webform 12/21 if they had one for 06 and have not gotten a reply.

I have the same issue, I think its a slight seal leak. Either put in Lucas Power Steering Additive or replace it.

I have an 06 & asked them if there was one for an 06 and they never answered.

I cleaned it and nothing has come out in over a week. I'll keep am eye on it.

Thanks

I have an 05 with 187,000 miles doing that exact same thing. The "grease" is like you describe, dark gray and is thick enough to remind me of a moly based grease.
I believe it has only been recently. I have been under the car several times in the last year to work on control arms and always take a better look around than I do when I change the oil every 6 weeks or so.
I am just getting into this though and need to learn more about steering racks. NEver needed to mess with one before.
My first question without searching yet since it is related to comments in this thread is if there is a replacement seal for that plug and what it's for in the first place. I wouldn't think you would have to replace the rack just becuase of a little leak. I'll try and let you know if I fingure out anything!
