When I take off in 3rd with the pedal on the floor the rpm's never hit over 3000 (This is the same for any gear). The car will continue to accelerate but not anything like it should.

No odd noises, no chech engine light.

When out of gear or when pressing clutch down the car revs up, will go to redline no problem.

Any idea whats going on?

 

Take off as in start in third gear? I hope you are not doing that because that would make you a moron, otherwise your clutch is slipping most likely.

Let me re word what I previously stated:

When Im in 3rd gear, doing 50, and floor the car it never goes above 3000 Rpm's.

Taking off in 3rd from a dead stop... Yes that would make anyone a moron. But thats not the issue.

 

What is Your Z's year and mileage??

Sounds like slipping clutch. When I drove my friends truck that had slipping clutch, i had to rev up to 3K to take off from dead stop. Also rev don't match when shifting gears.

 

2003 145000 but the clutch and flywheel only have about 45k, its a Jwt. Takes off no problem, shifts fine just doesn't accelerate like it.should.

Basically it feels like after you push the pedal futher than half way down, theres no more power.
