Sorry another P0300-lots of information
First off this is my first post here. I have been all over this forum for the past 3 yrs but never registered until now. Anyway i've been having this random intermittent misfire that I think is an electrical issue. P0300 code is the only one that it throws. Most of the time when it suddenly starts misfiring, theres lots of power loss and kind of a popping sound from exhaust. If I am at an idle, theres a few hundred RPMs drop and once it stops the RPMs go back up.
CEL will pop up and flash or it will stay solid. Sometimes it will misfire and not throw a cel. Seems like it will happen at any RPM. Right after startup, at an intersection, while accelerating, or while crusing. I first noticed it at around 60k. Started misfiring for 30 seconds then suddenly stopped. Never did it again until around 75k. Same thing happened. Suddenly came on and stopped. Prob happened mabe 4 times from 60-90k. Haven't done any mods in 20k.
Now I am at 92k and it recently started misfiring almost everytime I drive it. Usually it misfires for a few seconds, a minute, or longer and suddenly stops. Sometimes I drive it for 4 days before it does it again. Put iridium plugs in at 80k or so, they all look fine. Tested all coils, resistance tested fine and no bubbling or cracks. Checked coil harness, all good connections. All injectors have good connections. Took apart plenum and found no vacuum leaks in intake. Popcharger is clean.
Due to the crazy intermittentness it kinda seems like its an electrical problem. Or mabe an injector is sticking. Something I noticed was it seems like my odometer gauge is pulsing and or flickering lightly all the time. Also when I first put it in first gear after sitting all night and move forward, it does the abs test or something and it causes my headlights to dim. Never dimmed before. Already checked ground connections.
The volt gauge seems to be fine. It doesn't drop during the misfire and the car doesn't die with everything running when i disconnect the positive cable to the battery. Idk if the power issue has anything to do with the intermittent p0300, but from my research it seems like almost anything can cause the code and I was thinking it might be related.
Sorry for the long post. Ive been researching posts about this code for a while now and can't seem to find an answer. Seems like most posts about random misfires never get resolved and people throw money away trying to fix this. I am thinking about getting a fuel pressure gauge to monitor the misfires to see if its the fuel pump acting up. Is there a way to resistance/voltage check the maf, cps, or any other sensors it might be? Any help would be great. I love my car and hate when its sick. Btw its na 03 touring with mt.
