you want to do it fast, so you dont burn your clutch and you shouldn't have to hit the gas

I thought CD009 transmissions don't have this issue?

Well, I finally realized that I also have this 5th gear grind in my 2006 Z 6MT transmission. It also grinds going into reverse.
6+ years and has about 118,000 km on it. Transmission fluid changed every 50,000 km with Motul.

To avoid the grind, I have press the clutch and wait a sec more than normal then shift into 5th gear slower. Or do the double clutch.

Not really bothering me yet as I only use 5th gear during city driving and I usually shift slow under normal city driving.

When I track the Z, I only use the 1st to 4th gears and I really shift fast and hard, so those gears do get some abuse. But there's still no synco problems with those gears yet, cross my fingers. But I never abuse 5th gear and it's only used under very normal conditions and it grinds. So this makes me to believe that the 5th gear synco in our 6MT transmisson is the weakest link and it will eventually grind.

I guess it's good to know that everyone else (including those with CD009 like mine) also have the same 5th grind problem. If another gear starts to grind, I think I will have to replace my transmisson.
