Varies from shop-to-shop. Plan on $1000-$3000.

I can tell you what is going on. You need a new transmission.

You are better looking at a used tranny than fixing the synchro.

What about your warranty? Nissan has a 60k mile/5yr on powertrain. I'm not sure how it works but you might still have a little time depending on how old your 07 is? Doesn't hurt to try that first.

From the warranty book : "THE WARRANTY BEGINS
The warranty period begins on the date the vehicle is delivered
to the first retail buyer or put into use, whichever is earlier"

Truth. If you can do the swap yourself it will be closer to $700, if you have to pay a dealership it will be closer to $2000

First see of you have warranty if not then try changing your Trans fluid to something like Redline MT85 with a but of Lightweight shockproof. If that doesn't work find a used Trans get a friend to help you install. Btw do you know how to double clutch? (lol no not talking fast and the furious) its a good way to further verify that its the synchro

how many miles on the car? My 5th gear went bad, and instead of buying a used transmission (b/c used units can still have the 5th gear problem), I took the hit and bought a new one.

lets use going from forth to fifth to explain:
you would be in forth, clutch in, put it in neutral, clutch out, clutch in, put it in fifth, clutch out.

Our transmissions are synchronized so there is no need to double clutch on a daily bases, but if you still have a grind when you double clutch in confirms you synchro is going
