Re-calibrate, would be like just adjusting it to the right setting. Idk that's what the guy at the meet told me. The noise pisses me off so much is making regret the car. -___- I want silence!

Here is also the main cause of slack in the timing chains.

My engine had a tick in it sounded like it was coming from the head turns out it was the ac belt. I sprayed it with some lube and te tick went away. It was so weird sound just like a valve tick. It's worth checking out.

I don't think so. If they did then every VQ out there wouldn't be so damn noisy!

I have the same exact problem with my Z. Been looking for a solution for quite a while now. I listened to mine with a stethoscope and my noise is coming from the passenger side near the front bumper (cylinder 1?) Im not sure if its the lifters or timing chain. Heres a video of a G that had the noise caused by bad lifters. He stated that the lifters were replaced and it sounds fine now. Mine doesnt sound this bad but it sounds exactly like the first video posted.

Im up for an oil change and will probably put 4qt of mobil 1 syth 5w30 and 1 qt Marvel mystery oil to see if that does anything.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but someone might come along this in a search like I did.

Regarding the timing chain tensioner and the videos linked, it appears the 350Z uses a different setup. Mine doesn't look anything like the one in the video. So if you're chasing a tick, look elsewhere.

i dont think there is any way to recalibrate the chain if the timming chain tenshioners are drivvin off oil pressure the only way is to replace the VTC gears the timming chain and all tenshions i would say its fine as long as the noise goes away my 03 has a slight tap on engine startup all the time i think the Z had a design flaw that it starvs oil at cold starts. if you keep your oil clean and your oil pressure is good your gold my friend my z has 193k miles and still going strong i noticed that tap around 120k miles on mine.
