I searche for related threads but couldn't find what I was looking for here on my phone.
Basically my tire pressure light came on once, but all my tires were fine. Went to the dealer, they reset the light (for $70) and told me they THINK one of the batteries is low and said it was going to cost me $270 for a new battery. I declined that. Now a month later the light has come back on.
My question is: could I just buy the batteries and do it myself? Or replace the sensors? I know both the sensors and batteries are cheaper than $270....

haha, they said they can replace the battery?.. thats rich. And they charged you 70 bucks to reset that light.. total crooks man.. thats terrible. Id not return there my friend.
I mean, they COULD charge you, but its pretty jacked up that they did so.
Its proprietary, you need to replace the tpms sensor itself, its a sealed chunk of plastic w a battery in it. They are actually 100 each retail, but can be found cheaper n ebay. ours are similar w other model cars, i think the ones i bought are off a pathfinder, and i got a bag of 4 used from a car w 50k miles for like 40 bucks.

Yeah dude... Told me they could replace the batteries for $270 each and they would also have to charge labor for taking the tires off etc. I decided to do research myself first and boy am I glad I did.
I guess I'll buy some new ones. Still gonna have to take it to the dealer to get them calibrated or something wont I?
Thanks for that link Dave, I probably would have found that if I hadn't been on my phone.

I niece they transmit their own code out, but id write down the #s on them before install anyways. Yea..I think they have to run the consult tool at the dealer..

Which means I will be going to a different dealer. I guess this would be a decent time to throw some small spacers on my wheels too.... Need to get my brakes done too, pads almost gone...

there's a thread from a few days ago on this w a link.. they are available brand new and complete ( w out having to dig thru the plastic) for 28 dollars a piece.
Actually found the complete sensor for 39.95 at Advance auto parts, also Discount tire and wheels keep em, 60 bucks installed. My lite came on and left frt was showing no reading, went by Discount tire and wheel to get another one installed. They used a hand held scanner to check it, reset them all and it started reading again. NO charge. Had them rebalance tires out the door for 40 dollars.

Thats awsome, please post a link. Don't need them for my Z, but when they die on my Juke, i'll get new ones that way.
Most tire shops will have a tool that will scan each sensor, and say the battery life left on the sensor. Also, don't go to a dealership for TPMS sensors, again a tire shop will be cheaper. Where I work we reset lights for free, and make new sensors if needed for $75 out the door.
