Default Filler neck or gas gauge

I have an 04.5 touring model 6 speed ever since I bought it 4 Yeats ago I could never fit more than 60 dollors Canadian in it so like 16 gallon from bone empty. It will only ever read three quarters full. I get about 320 miles to a tank normal driving averaging 18-23 mpg. I checked for the filler neck recall but there isn't one. Was wondering if there was a sensor that could be bad or is it the whole filler neck it's just annoying not being able to fill it. An replies helpful

I have a 2006 Grand Touring 6MT 350Z and my owner's manual says the car has a 20 gallon gas tank. On a recent trip I filled up twice when my low gas warning light came on and my computer said I had 50 miles left in my tank. Both times I put just over 16 gallons in the tank. I got 479 miles out of that tank of gas. With the full tank my computer says I have 540 miles of driving available. I get around 27 mpg around town and on the trip I got 29 mpg.

I have an 06 and I find that the easiest way to fill it up, aka more than 16 gal, is to flip the gas filler nozzle so that it is pouring upside down. This is a work around for the filler neck issue. Some pumps I have no issue other pumps I need to flip it.

It some times takes less then the 16 gallons tho too. I was wondering if it is the common filler neck problem like the others. And if so what was it that needed replace the whole filler neck? And what tho cost is? I will try the upside down nozzle thing

So the service bulletins above are NOT applicable to 2004? I didn't know that.

ya I checked my car threw Nissan Canada for recalls and there were no recalls or was it just a tsb? Mine is an 04.5 I figured it would affect it. U have also called for the rear axle tsb and Nissan knew nothing about it and I called several dealers and all the same thing never heard of it. But there are not many 350z in Atlantic canada

I'm just curious the part I might need to replace. And if the dealer has to fix tsb issues or free?

These are Nissan service bulletins, and not initiated by the US Department of Transportation. I assume they are applicable worldwide.

Recalls and service bulletins are a common subject. I am surprised that a 4 year member would ask this question.

I understand where you are coming from but I can never find a clear answer a lot of people on here claim they had their axle click issue fixed under warranty. But when I went to my local dealer ad called several surrounding dealers they claim to know nothing about it. And refused to help me. And when I imported my car I had to have a recall letter to bring it across the border and it had no recalls. I'm just wondering if some people dealers did them a favor and did the fix under "warranty" for them or are they obligated to fix them like a recall.

Have you literally ran out of gas with it? It does sound about 5L low, but maybe it's not as empty as you think.

Thanks for the info. I was on the phone with Nissan north America yesterday and they explained that tsb do not have to fix under warranty but most dealers do. My dealer was just tight when I took it my car it still had warranty. And the recall for the filler neck didn't apply to my car unless maybe it was a tsb and not a recall at all. And No i haven't ran my car out of gas and I don't really plan to lol.

I did find out that it was a tsb therefore Nissan is not obligated to fix it. I just wantto know what part I need to fix it my self and what it's worth wether it be a filler neck or just a sensor

Not a big enough issue for only 5L. If you could only get it half full, then do it.

It varies from every fill. Anywhere from a little over half to three quarter of a tank

Well, here's something that worked with my Mazda. You take the vehicle to the dealer and vaguely explain the problem without suggesting a solution. They fix it, (like they have many, many times before) and when they hand you the bill, you hand them the TSB and ask why they are trying to charge you for something that Nisan has agreed to pay.

I talked to Nissan north America last night for 40 mintues. They explained tsb are not their obligation to fix even if the car is under warranty but most dealers do. When I took my car there for the axle issue they said they have never heard of it. I mentioned the tsb and they insisted on the problems where the swaybar links.

No secret that some dealers are major pieces of $h!t so if you can't get to another dealer, you might be out of luck.

The irritating thing is that their bill still gets paid, doesn't it? It's just that Nissan pays rather than the customer.

Yes I believe they do. But I don't think it contributes to there quota. To match or beat there sales last year
