Default Check your high pressure AC hose mine was cut by the compressor

Thursday and Friday were very bad days. I came out from work in 117 degree temps to no ac.

Drove home found the pictured hose touching the compressor and Refrigerant all over the place.

Call around, there are no hoses to be had. Call looking for a place that will fix it and they either don't do AC lines or need 48 hours.

Yesterday after striking out at several junk yards I took the car to my mechanic and he removed it and took it to a shop he knows that fixes hoses. I waited all day but got it done.

This picture is with a wire tie pulling it away from the compressor and it is still closer than I like. He added the piece of hose to give a bit of protection should it get into the compressor again.

Yikes no bueno. So what was rubbing on the AC line?

Was it the silicon hoses that didn't end up in the oem area?

EDIT: title says compressor rubbing. Any reason you can think why the AC line hp too close? Maybe engine pull it got bent?

The AC hose where the additional hose is touched the compressor where the clutch is (the spinning area) it cut into the hose releasing the Refrigerant. IMHO it is a design flaw putting it that close.

After it was done, it was MM away from the danger so he pulled it to the right away from the compressor and added the piece of hose. I still think it is pretty damn close.

Thanks for the heads up. Gonna go check that out in a second. Living in TX, definitely can't afford to lose the A/C. I just got the system charged, since I just changed the compressor. The old one was very noisy, and the used one I put on became just as noisy, so I hope that's nothing, but it would suck to lose all that brand new refrigerant.

i recall my AC compressor making bad noisese before it went in for engine surgery.. perhaps just the clutch..either way..do any of you have experience replacing the condensor as well?

In my quest to build a brand new car apparently lol.. i thought. hey, why not buy a new compressor. and if i do, why not buy a new condensor as well.. any horror stories on buying the inexpensive ones available?

I don't know why you would buy a new condenser. There's nothing mechanical in it like a compressor. I read around a little and it sounds like a lot of people have noisy compressors? I just figured, I bought a used one with 33k miles on it, I had the system vacuumed out and filled with new refrigerant, and yet it became noisy within 50 miles. It's annoying, but unless the compressor blows up, I'm leaving it. Not sure what else could cause it.
