Default car sputtering

yes hello, how is everyone doing? i have a little issue. my car turns on perfectly and everything works fine, but when i drive the car it wont rev past 4500 rpms.. people have told me it the maf sensor. so i changed it out still problem... brought it to nissan and they told me it could be bad cats... so my issue is, would bad cats cause my car to sputter like its redlining? please any input would be greatly appreciated.. thanks in advanced

Have you reset the ECU? Done the Throttle Position Sensor relearn procedure? Adequately maintained your car to date? Pulled the cats off to visually inspect them yourself?

These are are very basic things I would do before considering dropping hundreds of dollars on new OEM cats. If it is your cats, you may want to look at buying a used set, buying new test pipes, or high-flow cats.

What he said. Plenty of people on here who change out their cats for either HFC or Test pipes.

Sounds like its in limp mode... i dont think the cats would do that...

Any signs or symptoms prior to this like any idea what triggered it?

NEW MAF when you replaced it? be careful to not touch sensor? Drive through any rain/puddles??

try unhooking battery, pump brakes 5-10 times, rehooking battery up and see what it does... drive easy the first few miles then slowly push it harder, see if it goes into limp again or if a code appears

What intake?

Sounds most certainly like a wet MAF or contaminated making the car go into limp mode.

My car used to do it when I was NA when i drove the car hard when it was wet outside. Did it start doing it once you pushed the car? or even when driving it easy?

It's got to be showing a code. Start by checking the code. Yeah I get your buddy cleared it without telling you but that won't make it go away without fixing the issue. It does sound like limp mode like stated earlier but hell, Pep Boys will tell you the code for free if you can't pull the OBD-II codes.
