Default Grind Diagnosis

Sup guys, been doing some reading and having a random issue.

Background: '03 Track model. Original Transmission. 64k miles. Redline MT-85 Fluid swapped about 6k miles ago.

I've noticed a grind when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. It's not every time, but usually if I don't give a slight pause when going from 2nd it will grind...but sometimes I can get on it and shift from 1-2 at about 5k rpm...and then 2-3 at 5k rpm very snappy and quick and no grind.

Today, just to see what happened, I sat still (0mph) and idle rpms...pushed the clutch in and went straight into 3rd gear...grind. did it again, but pushed clutch in, waited one second and then into 3rd. no grind.

I'm somewhat dumbfounded. Synchro issue? That was my first diagnosis...the grinding comes and goes.

I've already starting pricing a CD009 tranny with new clutch/flywheel while I'm at it, but wanted to get some opinions on the symptoms before I dump money into it.

For now I'm continuing to drive it until I can get a solid diagnosis.

Thanks

Yeah I figured as much. Guess I'll just baby the 3rd gear shifts until I can get some $$ for the CD009 and clutch/flywheel.
