Default Oil Pressure (Issue)?

I changed my oil today and my oil pressure started variating more than it normally does. From 60PSI at 2.5k rpm to about 90PSI at 3.2krpm, increasing to about 110PSI at 5k rpm. Going down to a tad below 30PSI at idle. Before my oil change it sat at 60PSI until hard acceleration where it would rise to no more than 70PSI. I've checked all my caps, bolts, and oil filters and everything is nice and tight. I checked the oil; perfect oil level. As I type, I forgot the exact oil I used, I know it's Mobil 1 Full Synthetic.

Is it normal for oil pressure to fluctuate so much? If not, what should I try?

As long as it doesn't drop to 0 you should be fine. Pressure can fluctuate all the way down to 20psi while warming up and normally the needle about 1/2 - 2/3rds of the gauge should be fine. If your PSI stays at 120, it would most likely be a faulty oil pressure sensor. Easy fix.

Thanks for the quick reply. My mechanic thinks the same and a new gauge is on the way. Pressure shown is maxed out at 120 then falls back a little. Show 100 at idle.
I'll know tomorrow.
