Default 2003 350z wont start

The car wont start at times its happening more often. when you put the key in the light stays on for the security system on the upper part of the left side dash and the car wont start. I have to turn the key to the on position 3 times back and forth and that sometimes does it. Once the red light turns off the car will start. Does this have to do with the chip in the key? The car runs and starts fine its being locked out by the theft system some how.

Check Battery. The terminals too. If there is built up battery acid poor some diet coke on the battery acid. Then wipe off the rest. Caused my moms Maxima to do that. If that's not it. Take it the local dealership.

If it's a manual it could be the sensor on the clutch that tells the car it is depressed.

I know i thought of that, but i do think its the theft lock out some how. i have left the clutch deressed while reseting with the key and it did start finally. so the clutch was in the same position while trying to start it.And it did start finally.

There's nothing you can do about a theft system issue, take it to Nissan.

Somewhat common problem. No known solution from what I have read other than replacing the entire anti-theft lockout system and I have no idea what is involved with that. Some folks simply remove the key and start over and it will immediately fire right up. Friend of mine has had this issue for over a year now and that is what he does. You don't have any RFID devices on your key ring or in the car, do you? those things play havoc with the system too.

No, no rfid devises at all. It just seemed to get worse yesterday was stuck for 30 minutes until it worked, with the key in and out and turning it to acc and off several times.

someone must know something about this in this forum. Got to be some things to check or a way to reset the system.

Search for NATS:

There is no reseting that I know of. The problem will only get worse until you can't start it at all. You could try turning the key 180 degrees and see if it starts then, if you're stuck somewhere. Otherwise, get it fixed.
