CEL code question
Hi all
I have a '08 Roadster, 6MT with around 70k on it. I've had it for about 6 months.
After about 2 months I got a check engine light. I learned here how to reset the ECU and the light went out for about a month and returned. I reset it again and it stayed out for another month or so. The code appeared to be 0430. Recently it came on again and reappeared right away after I reset it. I drove around for about a week with it on. Now...it has gone out on its own (?).
The car runs strong and always has. I always use super and make sure the cap is on tight. From what I've read it's a 3-way catalyzer error.
My question is what else could cause this error code? I had a late model Z-28 with an error for an O2 sensor that turned out to be a cracked vacuum line.
Any ideas? Thoughts?
Thanks a million
Rich

From http://www.obd-codes.com/p0430:
A code P0430 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
There is an exhaust leak
Check all the above and isolate the issue. Even if you reset the light, and the issue persists, your ecu will learn about that issue and the light will come back on again - The reset only lasts for so long. If the light doesn't come on anymore, then you don't have an issue at hand. Good luck!
