Default High idle when cold and whirring sound in cabin while driving, HELP please!

Lately I've been having a high idle when turning on the car after it has been sitting for more than coulpe hours, and happens regardless of outside air temperature. It will idle at about 1800 rpm then gradually go down to 850 or so. Also, lately there has been something of a sucking or whirring sound coming from the instrument cluster area.

I took it to the nissan dealership and confirmed that they heard the same sound, but could not find any vacuum leaks. They also did a relearn on throttle but that didn't help at all.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

That is the idle control, will do it when its cold and drop to normal idle as the engine temperature rises, thats normal.

As for the buzz, suction or whatever sound, maybe record a video or sound clip if you are using climate control the doors and flaps on it are controlled by servos, and they sometimes make some noise. Or you could have a leaf in your fan for the blower on the heat/ac.

Thanks for the snark. I see you live in New York. I live in Texas and it was 72 this morning when I drove to work. A couple weeks ago it was in the 90s during the day and it still did it. It didn't do it 2 months ago, though. That's why I'm a bit concerned about it.

The high idle is normal. Mine has always done it. I'm in Virginia, but it does it every morning when I crank it up in my heated garage, winter or summer. I wish it was 72 here

ETA: Mine makes a whirring sound from the transmission when it's cold and in neutral. If I push in the clutch it goes quiet. After the transmission warms up, it quiets down. Perhaps you should try letting the clutch in and out and see if the noise persists? Does the noise go away after warming up?

Finally got the issue resolved today. When I bought the car the dealership replaced the windshield becuase of a crack in it. Turns out the sound is just engine noise coming through a bad seal in the windshield. Putting tape on the seal made the noise go away. Tomorrow they are going to reset or replace the windshield to get a proper seal on it.

my 04 z roadster auto touring would only raise the idle to 1100 or so at cold start then drop back quick to 500, measured by the factory gauge.

i had it 6 yrs and put 186,000miles on it

my 07 I just traded for idles at 2000 rpm at cold start and takes a minute or two before
it idles down to 500, again by the oem gauge.

did the 3 learning procedures and it now goes to 1900 instead of 2000 for the same 1 to two minutes.

don't like it and would love to fix it.

no intake leaks, no codes and this 07 has the injen cold air installed.
