Default Busted cam cover.... Pics.

So I pulled off the cam covers to polish them and noticed something very odd about the passenger side cover.... It appears to be busted.

I'm not sure how long it's been like that, and I don't see anything wrong inside:

Second of all. What's the technical name for these two covers? Can I buy a new one from someone? I hate to reinstall the broken one even though who knows how long that's been like that.

One more question. Anyone know where I can find the gaskets for these or do I just use the liquid stuff.

I’d want to know where the fragment that broke off went, if it’s in the front engine cover with the timing chain or not…

Here is the part: http://www.courtesyparts.com/13041p-...8-p-17111.html

Use Permatex gasket maker for those.

Thank you! If there was a rep feature on this forum I'd use it for you. But alas my humble thank you will have to suffice.

After looking I found the broken piece laying in the floor. So I guess I may have broken it getting it off.

Regardless. Thanks again!

NP… Good to hear you found the fragment though! You definitely don’t want that sitting somewhere in the front timing cover, lol

Yeah I was stressed about the fragments. I'm still not sure how it got broken in the first place. I didn't force it off or anything

Ordered a new one. It probably wouldn't hurt to reuse the old one, but for 40 bucks shipped, better safe than sorry.

Thanks again for the help. I really appreciate it.

You wouldn't happen to know the torque specs on those bolts off the top of your head do you?

Sorry, you’ll have to check the factory service manual… https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance...anual-fsm.html

K. Will do.

Edit:

Just FYI, there aren't any specific torque settings for those bolts.
