Default Oil film on TOP of valve cover (Long term maintenance)

Hey guys

I changed my valve covers and gaskets not too long ago because I had leaking well seals. I just checked up on the condition of it and I found a film of oil on the driver's side valve cover. (Shown in the picture I found on the internet.)

I have checked all the wells on that side, bone dry. I also checked all the plug coils and they are dry.

I have checked all hose connections on that side and there was nothing left unhooked or damp.

I did notice (while taking off my intake manifold) that there was quite a bit of oil inside on the lower manifold. It was deposited in the half penny sized dimples near the centerline.

The only idea that I have is that I found the oil receptacle rubber collar was bent downwards behind the intake manifold. Could oil travel back up and spill through the oil cap? I would think that the screw on cap is vacuum tight. Am I wrong?

I'm really stumped as to where this oil could have come from. I need this car running for at least another 50k miles.

Thanks guys.

Drivers side on top....sounds like spilling while filling with oil. Like you said the rubber collar was bent so maybe just a little drippage???

Good luck though

^ Most likely your issue. Wipe them clean and check back later.
